The First and Only Prototype of Its Kind. Tested and Field-Ready.
The Mighty MUOSe™ is a revolutionary MUOS extender designed for space-constrained platforms. Built for operations in denied, degraded, and hard-to-reach environments—from polar regions to mountainous terrain—it delivers persistent, reliable MUOS service coverage from Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
Whether geosynchronous (GEO) satellites are unavailable, compromised, or entirely absent in a “day without space” scenario, Mighty MUOSe™ keeps warfighters connected, resilient, and mission-ready.
- Tested in extreme environments (thermal vac, shock, vibration)
- Demonstrated successful Point-to-Network calls in worst-case Doppler conditions
- Lightweight, energy-efficient, and integration-ready
Resilient MUOS Coverage—Even Without GEO Satellites
From CubeSats to high-altitude platforms, MUOSe™ delivers global MUOS coverage—without the need for GEO satellite access or ground feeder links.
Prototype Status: Fully lab-tested. Now ready for integration into your spacecraft or mission platform.

The Purpose Behind the Mighty MUOSe™
In 2018, the U.S. Navy issued a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) topic seeking persistent MUOS coverage over the North Pole. The solution had to:
- Fit within a CubeSat platform
- Support existing MUOS terminals without waveform modification
W5’s Answer
W5 Technologies answered with Mighty MUOSe™, a groundbreaking MUOS call-processing payload designed for deployment in LEO.
Unlike conventional architectures that depend on centralized ground infrastructure, Mighty MUOSe™ places a miniature MUOS ground node on each satellite. This architecture:

Reduces latency

Eliminates ground feeder link dependency

Increases network resilience and survivability
To further expand its capability, MUOSe™ includes:
- Automatic Doppler pre-correction, allowing existing MUOS terminals to function seamlessly in LEO
- An IP-based payload-to-payload crosslink system, enabling five or more CubeSats to operate as a distributed MUOS constellation
W5 was awarded both Phase I and II SBIR contracts to build and test the prototype. The result? A proven unit with field-tested hardware and demonstrated MUOS call capability.
If you’re building spacecraft for contested, remote, or high-latitude environments, Mighty MUOSe™ gives you the opportunity to integrate persistent MUOS capability—today.
