The First and Only Prototype of Its Kind. Tested and Field-Ready.
The Mighty MEG™ (MUOS Extension Gateway) is purpose-built to solve a critical communications challenge: providing real-time, secure access between MUOS terminals and external networks across all MUOS call types—Point-to-Point (PTP), Point-to-Network (PTN), and Group.
Whether you’re conducting UAV command and control, delivering real-time intelligence to units in radio silence (EMCON), or distributing battlefield situational awareness data, the Mighty MEG™ bridges the gap between internal MUOS networks and the external networks that operators, analysts, and mission leaders depend on.
EMCON Flexibility, Bi-Directional Power
Mighty MEG™ gives you full control over how and when to communicate—whether you’re operating in EMCON (Emission Control) mode or need bi-directional data flow. Designed to deliver the data stream of your choosing without revealing your presence, Mighty MEG™ seamlessly integrates with MUOS while honoring the realities of the battlefield.
- Need to receive only, with stealth? Mighty MEG™ supports it.
- Need full bi-directional communications with SIPRNET/NIPRNET? Mighty MEG™ delivers.
- Secure, adaptable, and mission-aware—that’s the Mighty MEG™ advantage.
Mighty MEG™ Unlocks What MUOS Has Been Missing
Before Mighty MEG™, MUOS terminals could only access external networks for PTN (data), with no PTP voice capability or Group communication access from external sources.
That meant:

External users couldn’t initiate calls

Group broadcasts couldn’t reach external networks

Legacy systems required MUOS HAIPE encryption, limiting interoperability
Now, Mighty MEG™ enables:
External networks to initiate PTP, Group, and PTN calls
Interoperability with non-HAIPE encryption solutions
Group data broadcasts from external sources to MUOS users
Dynamic, static, and scheduled call setups with zero manual operator intervention

Built for Real-World Mission Use Cases
Mighty MEG™ is not theoretical. It’s tested, deployable, and designed to support a range of high-priority mission environments:
- Integrated Broadcast Services (IBS)
Aggregate and push real-time intelligence or battlefield alerts from external systems to large groups of MUOS users—with no Group Talker contention. - UAV Command and Control
Control Navy or joint UAVs remotely, even without Suite A HAIPE encryption. Mighty MEG™ allows rapid implementation of compliant alternatives, and real-time C2 over MUOS. - Local Mission Network Extension
Connect field teams to mission-level network data, even when soldiers don’t have access to terminals. Route live mission-critical data from external networks directly into MUOS. - EMCON Operations (Radio Silence Mode)
Mighty MEG™ enables broadcast delivery to MUOS users operating in EMCON, including TAK Server integration. Units in receive-only mode can still get updates and maintain situational awareness
How It Works
The Mighty MEG™ provides a bank of MUOS Functional Terminal (MFT) proxies that facilitate data exchange between MUOS and external users. Mighty MEG™ operates in three calling modes:
Static Calls
Predefined call configurations. Data arrives, Mighty MEG™ handles the rest by automatically connecting users based on pre-set parameters.
Scheduled Calls
Establishes calls at specific times with predefined parameters. External or internal users can send data seamlessly during the call window.
Dynamic Calls
Most flexible option. External or MUOS users define call parameters in real time using a Mapping Application Profile (MAP), triggering call setup on demand.
The Mighty MEG™ Advantage
- Secure Cross-Network Communication
Bridge MUOS with SIPRNET/NIPRNET without routing back to Wahiawa or Northwest hubs - Flexible Deployment
Operate at existing MUOS ground stations or deploy tactically in theater - Reduced Latency
Eliminate extra satellite hops for faster, more responsive communication - Crypto Agnostic
Use approved Suite B (non-HAIPE) encryption for faster, mission-flexible integration - Operator-Free Operation
Automatically initiate, manage, and terminate calls without manual input
